Staying the course and focusing on execution

2024 is going to be an important year for the wind industry and for ENERCON. After years of sluggishness, the markets are finally reviving. The framework conditions and the prospects are looking good and there is a tangible upswing as evidenced by an increasing number of new orders. In the quest for the energy transition, this development is very good news. In view of the advancing climate change, we cannot afford more crisis years without any significant progress of the wind energy expansion.

And for us as a company, it is also important to return to calmer waters after the turbulence of recent years. ENERCON’s course has been charted: we have formulated our strategies and plans for our return to success as part of the company reorientation. This year will be all about execution. Making sure that this happens is one of my highest priorities as ENERCON’s new CEO.

Our main focus is on the market launch of our new top model, the E-175 EP5. With a rotor diameter of 175 metres, nominal power of 7.0 MW and hub heights of up to 175 metres, the E-175 EP5 is among the most powerful and highest-yielding onshore wind turbines in the market. The prototype installation of the basic version is underway, and our production team is preparing for the series production kick-off. At the same time, we are conducting extensive testing to ensure the ENERCON Quality of the series product for our customers.

When it comes to executing our plans, I have complete faith in our experienced, motivated team and its excellent teamwork. This year ENERCON celebrates its 40th anniversary – another reason why 2024 is a special year for our company. For four decades, we have been doing our share for the energy transition and climate protection and have often given impulses for new developments. On the foundation of this success story, we want to use this market upswing to drive the wind energy expansion together with our customers and help shape the next stage of the energy transition.

And we call on our politicians, too, to execute the agreed-on plans and goals, for example in the form of accelerated permitting, the resolute reduction of bureaucratic obstacles as well as guaranteeing energy independence. Europe will achieve the energy transition and energy independence only if industry and government work hand in hand on the execution.
