An important milestone for the energy transition: ENERCON and CPC Germania GmbH & Co. KG agreed on the delivery and construction of 15 x E-175 EP5 E2.
The wind farm is being built in the municipalities of Ludwigsstadt, Tettau and Steinbach am Wald, in the heart of the low mountain ridge on the Rennsteig, in Upper Franconia, Bavaria.
Technical highlights:
Strong partnership in and with the region
The municipalities of Ludwigsstadt, Tettau and Steinbach am Wald are not only local communities, but are also directly involved in the project - they operate four of the 15 plants themselves. Thanks to transparent communication and active involvement of the local population, the project enjoys a high level of local acceptance: the public survey showed 85% in favour of the wind farm.
Innovation and quality make ENERCON a preferred partner
The use of the E-175 EP5 E2 – one of the most powerful and efficient onshore turbines in Europe – demonstrates how technological advancement, efficiency, and quality go hand in hand.
Its deployment at the Rennsteig wind farm reflects the trust placed in our solutions. With its high energy yield, modular design, and proven technology, it embodies ENERCON’s commitment to quality and showcases how innovation drives the energy transition forward.
Construction of the wind farm will start in spring 2026 and commissioning is planned for 2027. The project thus makes an important contribution to the Bavarian state government's goal of being climate-neutral by 2040.
