ENERCON’s global installation numbers stable with slight increase year-on-year / Positive order intake indicates further growth
With a strong increase in installations of new wind turbines in Germany, ENERCON has concluded the year 2025. Installed capacity rose by more than 400 MW, from 1,188 MW in 2024 to 1,592 MW in 2025 (commissioned capacity: 1,508 MW). ‘For the second year in a row, we increased our installations in Germany by around 30 percent – this is a strong team effort by our customers, subcontractors, and ENERCON,’ says Benjamin Seifert, Executive Vice President Business Unit Regions at ENERCON. ‘We are on a growth trajectory, as also reflected by our current order intake, which is developing very positively.’
According to the latest market analysis by the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) and VDMA Power Systems, conducted by the specialist agency Wind and Solar, ENERCON ranks third in terms of commissioned capacity with a market share of 28.8 percent – only slightly behind Nordex (31.5 percent) and Vestas (30.1 percent). Based on the number of installed turbines, ENERCON leads with 313 units, followed by Nordex (285) and Vestas (277). ENERCON also tops the list of the most frequently approved turbine types in new permits issued in 2025: the E 175 EP5 is clearly in first place with 647 turbines (4,142 MW), followed by Vestas V172 with 477 turbines (3,426 MW).
Worldwide, ENERCON’s installation output remained stable in 2025 at 2,785 MW, representing a slight year-on-year increase (2024: 2,776 MW). The strongest growth was recorded in the region Central Asia/Middle East/Africa (CAMEA). Here, ENERCON’s installation teams added 711 MW in 2025 – around 200 MW more than the previous year (2024: 514 MW).
Benjamin Seifert remains optimistic about the outlook: ‘We have seen an increase in order intake of around 40 percent compared to the previous year, reaching nearly EUR 6 billion. Our new flagship model, the E 175 EP5 E2, contributes significantly to this.’ With a rotor diameter of 175 meters and a rated power of up to 7.0 MW, the E 175 EP5 E2 is among the highest yielding onshore wind turbines in Europe. ENERCON’s planned ramp up volume for the E2, with deliveries scheduled for construction sites in 2026, is sold out. Benjamin Seifert adds: ‘We are also engaged in very constructive planning with our customers for 2027 and beyond, aiming to implement onshore projects in Germany and international markets using our new flagship model.’
‘The strong installation figures and order intake are also the result of positive political support,’ Seifert continues. ‘It is important for the federal government to continue refining the regulatory framework with care to avoid jeopardizing installation momentum. As a solution provider for the integrated green energy ecosystem, ENERCON offers answers to key challenges in further implementing the energy transition. We stand ready to continue making our contribution to onshore expansion and the development of a sustainable energy system in the years ahead.’
