Market upswing meets quality product portfolio – ENERCON CCO Uli Schulze Südhoff on ENERCONs current performance, strong markets and next steps
Steadily continuing the positive development of the last year, ENERCON is making good progress on its mission providing green ‘energy for the world’. In the first half of the year, the company recorded a double-digit increase year-on-year in order intake, outperforming the half year target for 2024. In the interview with the Corporate Communications team, ENERCON Chief Commercial Officer Uli Schulze Suedhoff talks about reasons for this positive trend and further steps to increase customer value.
Uli Schulze Suedhoff, what are the drivers of this positive order intake development?
Uli Schulze Suedhoff: First, thank you to the whole ENERCON team – these numbers are your joint achievement. Then: We see more and more projects getting faster permissions on the one hand. And on the other hand, we have a strong ENERCON product portfolio that meets the needs of our customers in different markets. Our goal is to maximise customer value by offering quality wind turbines, enabling support and responsive Sales and Service. The market recognises that.
Which regions, countries or turbines are especially strong?
Uli Schulze Suedhoff: Germany is still the backbone of our success. However, Türkiye and Eastern Europe are coming strong. We also see strong dynamics in Southern Europe and Asia. This increasing diversification is a result of our customer-centric approach considering specific market requirements for our products and services and supporting our ambitions in different core markets. Turbine-wise the new E-175 EP5 is very well received - it complements perfectly our portfolio of the E-138 and E-160 machines.
Why do customers choose ENERCON as a partner?
Uli Schulze Suedhoff: Three aspects, among others: reliable product technology, accessible and passionate teams looking for eye-level partnerships and maximising customer value. Finally, value offerings beyond the turbine hardware, for example support in project planning, financing, grid integration or end of life solutions like life-extension or repowering in selected countries. Customers know they can be sure of our full commitment to their projects.
What is next in regard of E-175 EP5, service and market frameworks?
Uli Schulze Suedhoff: The prototype installation of the E-175 EP5 is close to completion. In parallel the series ramp-up is in full swing with special focus on quality and efficiency in production, transport and installation. On services we are experimenting with digital solutions on how to maximise availability and yield as well as cost efficiencies. On the regulatory side, we are working with EU on how we can create a fair market design: We need a level playing field that ensures equal opportunities for all market participants and punishes price dumping. Specifically, “Made in Europe” must be rewarded in tenders in order to balance out distortions of competition.
Thank you!
